A year in the hospitality design industry
During my third year of studies I worked at Tibbatts Abel as part of my placement year, working on a number of hospitality projects, some residential and even office spaces. Working alongside the senior designers I helped carry out tasks:
Design
- Schemes
- Sketches / Photoshop work to explain design ideas to clients
- Material selection and boards
- Amending floor plans
- Detail drawings
- Setting up of drawing packages
- Schedules (lighting, furniture, doors and cost)
Studio
- Organisation and upkeep of the sample library
- Liaising with clients
- Setting up of presentation documents according to company standards
- Booking meetings
- Keeping contact with suppliers on projects
